Who we are
Kidenza is a Community Interest Company based in West Kent. It is run by early years music specialist Claire Lambert, supported by our Board of Directors and some of the UK’s finest professional musicians.
Playing music together helps us learn to listen, to become good team players and to develop our creativity and confidence. At Kidenza we introduce children to FUN classical music in the hope that they will be inspired to learn an instrument and perhaps join a band or orchestra.
Our aim is to dispel the preconception of classical music as being stuffy and elitist and to provide affordable opportunities for young children to hear and take part in music making.
We have recently toured primary schools in Kent as champions of the BBC Ten Pieces. Over 8,000 children and adults from 76 schools attended our concerts and 97% said they would attend future Kidenza concerts. Impacts on children were quoted as “huge”; broadening experiences for some and bringing classical music to life for others. As a result of the Kidenza concert, over half of the children who attended have shown interest in creating music (61%), seeing more classical music (65%) or learning more about classical music (65%). From the words used to describe their experience it’s clear that the children found the performances both fun and interesting. The top four words that the children used most often were ‘Fun’, ‘Exciting’, ‘Brilliant’ and ‘Awesome’. Click here to read the report.
