BBC Ten Pieces Tour III 2018

For the 3rd year in a row, the BBC have launched another set of 10 pieces – this time pitched at years 7 to 14.

As Champions for the BBC, Kidenza would like to invite your pupils to attend one of the concerts on our 2018 Tour of The BBC Ten Pieces III.
Our concerts are performed by a full 14-piece professional orchestra. Many of these musicians perform for the most admired UK orchestras and in the West End. Our musicians love working with children and the orchestra and audience have great fun during the performances.

This is not your regular classical concert. This is a concert designed for your pupils, to introduce them to wonderful pieces, take part in the action and engage in learning. Free teaching resources from the BBC (including lesson plans, animated films, simplified arrangements and recordings) are available to continue this learning in the classroom. As BBC Champions, we are there to support specialist and non-specialist teachers in the provision of the musical curriculum – staff enjoy this experience as much as our children!

The 2018 tour has the theme of a musical recipe book and we shall be ‘cooking up some recipes’ with different musical ingredients. We shall open up our kitchen store cupboard and experiment with the different sounds – what will your pupils choose? How will the end result sound?

We will be looking at many different musical elements including form, notation, pitch, dynamics, rhythm and timbre.

The concert will include the following pieces:

  • Copland Rodeo -Hoe-Down
  • Dvorak Symphony Number 9 in E Minor ‘From The New World’ -Largo (2nd Movt)
  • Orff Carmina Burana – O Fortuna
  • Tchaikovsky Nutcracker – Russian Dance
  • Purcell Rondeau – Abdelazer
  • Mozart Variations on Twinkle Twinkle
  • Elgar Enigma Variation 7

The concert will last approximately one hour.
